Equality and Diversity & British Values
At Leamington Primary Academy we pride ourselves on celebrating Equality and Diversity. We are an inclusive school, meeting the needs of all of our pupils to the best of our capacity.
We have many different specialist teams within school who support children in achieving their potential in and around school.
We have a highly trained pastoral support team, trained in therapies, promoting positive behaviours, supporting friendships, working with others and supporting pupils with SEND.
Our Speech and Language therapist supports all pupils coming into school to ensure their oracy is the first priority in school. Pupils are supported when needed and signposted to agencies.
On admission to school, parents meet with our Family Support team to establish any need there may be for a pupils. The inclusion team then work together in making any relevant adaptations or communications to ensure each pupils needs are met.
We also continue to work closely with teams from the Local Authority. Sarah Lee and her team have hosted several Diversity workshops with our Y5/6 pupils.
All pupils deserve the right to a good education. That is what we aim to deliver.
LPA Equality Policy
Promoting Fundamental British Values
In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
The Key Values are:
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
These are taught through our PSHCE curriculum, assemblies and be our active School Council team in school. The children are taught about the definitions and how this is now applied to everyday life to ensure it is relevant. Work with British Values is then linked closely to our own school principles, underpinning high expectations and aspirations for our pupils.
