Our first topic was 'Is there anyone else like me?'.  We created 'All about me bags' filled with our favourite things to share with our friends. We spoke about what makes us smile and created our own Joke Book filled with our favourite jokes! We also talked about what we want to be when we are older. A police man and a nurse came to visit to talk about their jobs. We had a trip to our local library to see what it was like to be a librarian. We finished our topic with a Talent Show video. The video showed us performing our special talents from magic tricks and painting to scoring goals and gymnastics.

Our second topic was 'What food can I dig up for dinner?'. We kicked off our topic with a food tasting session with our grown ups. During this topic we spoke about where food came from. We became chefs and made our very own pizzas. For a week we had breakfast at school and had something different and healthy every day. At the end of our topic we held a healthy food café and invited our grown ups to try our tasty treats!

It was very exciting getting ready for Christmas and our Nativity! We even got some letters from Santa's elves!
After Christmas we came back to school and a rocket had landed in the playground! Then we decided that we wanted to learn 'Can I fly a rocket to the moon?'. We had a star gazing evening at school and learnt lots about different planets. We learnt how to build jet packs and created incredible art. We went on a trip to the National Space Centre. It was so fun to learn about space that we decided to have our own space museum back at school for the grown ups. They got to see all the amazing work we had done!
Our next topic was 'What can ladybirds hear in the woodland?'. We went on a mini beast hunt wearing explorer hats that we had made. We looked at where insects lived and how many spots ladybirds have. We learnt where caterpillars came from and had some caterpillars as a class pet! We watched them grow and turn into beautiful butterflies!
After the Easter holidays we held our own Easter Party to start our topic 'How many things can I celebrate?'. We learnt lots about different celebrations. When it was the Queen's birthday we made her beautiful birthday cards. After May Day we had a May Day dance in PE and learnt how to Morris Dance! We spoke about different celebrations that we had been to and shared lots of photos from home. We decided to have our own pretend wedding! Everybody pretended to be a person involved in the wedding. We dressed up smart and walked to the local church to get married! We had a Reception back at school in the hall. It was so much fun and we loved the party.
Our final topic was 'Do you know a magical fairy tale?'. When we got to school we found 4 magic gems! We left them out over night and they turned into magic wands, tiny photos of us (mini me), wizard hats and photos of fairies that came into our classroom! We wrote instructions on how to make a magic potion.
